![Jese Leos](https://paperback.bccbooking.com/author/shane-blair.jpg)
Growing up in a poor migrant farm worker family in rural Mexico, I never imagined that I would one day become a brain surgeon. But thanks to the power of education and the support of my family and mentors, I was able to overcome the challenges I faced and achieve my dreams.

My journey was not easy. I was born in a small village in the state of Michoacan, Mexico. My parents were农民, and we lived in a small,破旧的房子没有自来水或电。I started working in the fields when I was just five years old, picking tomatoes, onions, and other vegetables. The work was hard, and the pay was low. But I knew that education was my only way out of poverty.
I was a good student, and I excelled in math and science. When I was in the sixth grade, my teacher told me about a scholarship program that would allow me to attend a private school in the United States. I was thrilled, and I applied for the scholarship and was accepted. I moved to the United States when I was 14 years old, and I started attending high school in California.
At first, it was difficult to adjust to life in the United States. I didn't speak English very well, and I was often teased by my classmates. But I was determined to succeed, and I worked hard to learn English and catch up on my studies. I graduated from high school with honors, and I went on to attend college at the University of California, Berkeley.
In college, I majored in biology and minored in chemistry. I also volunteered at a local hospital, where I helped out in the emergency room and the operating room. It was during this time that I developed my passion for neurosurgery. I was fascinated by the brain and the nervous system, and I knew that I wanted to be a neurosurgeon.
After graduating from college, I attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco. Medical school was challenging, but I was determined to succeed. I studied hard, and I excelled in my classes. I also participated in research projects and published several papers in academic journals.
After graduating from medical school, I completed my residency in neurological surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. During my residency, I performed hundreds of surgeries, and I gained invaluable experience. I also published several more papers in academic journals, and I presented my research at national and international conferences.
Today, I am a board-certified neurosurgeon. I work at a major hospital in Los Angeles, and I specialize in brain tumors and other complex neurological conditions. I am also a clinical professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, where I teach medical students and residents.
My journey from migrant farm worker to brain surgeon has been a long and difficult one, but it has also been incredibly rewarding. I am grateful for the opportunities that I have been given, and I am committed to using my skills and knowledge to help others. I hope that my story will inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter how difficult they may seem.
