Buffalo Bill: Life Story of a Legendary Frontiersman is an autobiography by one of the most iconic figures in American history. The book follows the life of William F. Cody, from his childhood on the frontier to his days as a buffalo hunter, scout, and showman.
Cody was born in Iowa in 1846. His family moved to Kansas when he was a child, and it was there that he first learned to ride horses and shoot a gun. In 1860, Cody joined the Pony Express, and he soon became one of the most famous riders on the line. After the Pony Express closed down, Cody worked as a buffalo hunter. He killed thousands of buffalo, and he helped to supply the Union Army with meat during the Civil War.
After the war, Cody became a scout for the U.S. Army. He fought in several Indian wars, and he earned a reputation for bravery and skill. In 1872, Cody founded the town of North Platte, Nebraska. He also started a stagecoach company, and he helped to build the Union Pacific Railroad.
In 1883, Cody founded the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show. The show featured cowboys, Indians, and other performers from the frontier. The show was a huge success, and it toured the United States and Europe for many years. Cody became one of the most famous men in the world, and he was known as "Buffalo Bill" because of his exploits as a buffalo hunter.
