This is the story of Juana Bordas, the daughter of Mexican immigrants. Juana's journey was not easy. She faced poverty, discrimination, and language barriers. But she never gave up on her dream. She worked hard, she studied hard, and she persevered. And finally, in 2015, she earned her PhD from Harvard University.

Juana's story is an inspiration to us all. It shows us that anything is possible if we set our minds to it. No matter what challenges we face, we can overcome them if we have the determination and the support of our loved ones.

Juana's story is also a reminder of the importance of education. Education is the key to opportunity. It can help us to break the cycle of poverty and to achieve our dreams. Juana is living proof of this.

I hope that Juana's story will inspire you to pursue your dreams, no matter how big or small they may seem. And I hope that it will remind you of the importance of education.

From Housemaid to Harvard

Juana Bordas was born in Mexico in 1980. Her parents were poor farmers, and they struggled to make ends meet. When Juana was 10 years old, her family immigrated to the United States in search of a better life.

In the United States, Juana's family settled in a small town in California. Juana's parents worked long hours in low-paying jobs, and they struggled to make ends meet. Juana and her siblings helped out by working odd jobs, such as cleaning houses and babysitting.

Despite her family's financial struggles, Juana was a good student. She loved to learn, and she excelled in school. When she was in high school, she began to dream of going to college. But she knew that her family couldn't afford to pay for her tuition.

Undeterred, Juana applied for scholarships and financial aid. She was awarded a scholarship to attend a local community college, and she worked part-time to help pay for her expenses.

After graduating from community college, Juana transferred to the University of California, Berkeley. She continued to work hard, and she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology.

After graduating from Berkeley, Juana applied to Harvard University's PhD program in education. She was accepted, and she began her doctoral studies in 2011.

Juana's doctoral research focused on the experiences of undocumented immigrant students in higher education. She found that these students face a number of challenges, including financial hardship, discrimination, and language barriers.

In 2015, Juana earned her PhD from Harvard University. She is now an assistant professor of education at the University of California, Riverside. She continues to research the experiences of undocumented immigrant students, and she advocates for policies that will make it easier for these students to succeed in college.

A Role Model for Us All

Juana Bordas is a role model for us all. She has shown us that anything is possible if we set our minds to it.
