In 2019, I embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure: a 2,500-mile journey from Panama to Galapagos to French Polynesia and Hawaii. I sailed aboard a 40-foot catamaran with a crew of four, and we spent six months exploring these incredible destinations.

In this book, I share my experiences of this epic journey, from the stunning landscapes and wildlife of the Galapagos Islands to the vibrant culture and idyllic beaches of French Polynesia. I also provide practical advice for planning your own trip to this unforgettable part of the world.

Panama

Our journey began in Panama, where we provisioned our boat and set sail for the Galapagos Islands. The first leg of our trip was a 600-mile passage across the open ocean. We encountered some rough weather along the way, but we eventually arrived in the Galapagos safe and sound.

The Galapagos Islands are a unique and special place. The islands are home to a variety of endemic species, including the Galapagos tortoise, the marine iguana, and the Galapagos penguin. We spent several days exploring the islands and learning about their fascinating natural history.

Galapagos

From the Galapagos, we sailed to French Polynesia. The passage to French Polynesia was a long one, but it was also very rewarding. We stopped at several islands along the way, including the Marquesas Islands and the Tuamotu Archipelago.

French Polynesia is a beautiful and diverse country. The islands are home to stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and vibrant coral reefs. We spent several weeks exploring French Polynesia, and we were amazed by the beauty of this island nation.

French Polynesia

From French Polynesia, we sailed to Hawaii. The passage to Hawaii was a challenging one, but we were eventually able to reach our destination. We arrived in Hawaii just in time for the start of the humpback whale season.

Hawaii is a beautiful state with a rich culture and history. We spent several weeks exploring the islands, and we were impressed by the beauty of this island paradise.

Our 2,500-mile journey from Panama to Galapagos to French Polynesia and Hawaii was an unforgettable experience. We saw some of the most beautiful places on Earth, and we met some amazing people along the way. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have experienced this incredible journey.
